Apple’s iPhone 4 is finally dead after the phone maker gave it an ‘obsolete’ status. Now that the device has been labeled as obsolete by Apple, the company will no longer service the hardware of any iPhone 4 devices, unless they were purchased in the state of California, in which case hardware servicing will end in two years.
So what are ‘obsolete’ product according to Apple? Here’s their explanation:
The iPhone 4’s process of discontinuation has been ongoing for several years The device, which launched in the Summer of 2010, had stopped being sold by Apple after it released the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, three years ago.
The iPhone 4 came with big design changes, departing from the round-edged iPhone 3G and 3GS design. This change brought with it the much publicized antenna issue , where holding the phone the ‘wrong’ way would cause the signal to drop. In response to the ‘Death Grip’ debacle , Apple ended up giving away free bumper cases to those who had purchased the device within a certain time period.
