To benefit from this bug fix, simply save the downloadable firmware on your computer’s desktop, backup all your important data, and make sure to stop all programs and processes that might interfere with the upgrade.
If all is ok, connect to your My Cloud storage and open its Dashboard UI, go to Settings > Firmware Update > Manual Update section, click the “Update From File” button, and browse and select the downloaded .bin file.
Afterwards, just confirm the upgrade process you are about to perform and wait patiently as the device does its job. Keep in mind that you mustn’t rename the firmware file and interrupt the upgrade in any way; doing so can lead to serious device malfunctions.
Moreover, even though it seems simple, make sure you install the new firmware with the AC power adapter connected or use a 50% charged battery, at least.
