Get ready for a hot, wet Memorial Day in southeast Texas.
Forecasters are calling for hot and humid weather giving way to severe storms overnight, according to the National Weather Service .
On Sunday, heat index values will spike into the low 100s before a cold front moves in with some nastier weather. Story continues below.
Starting in the afternoon, there’s a potential for severe thunderstorms, although the worst weather will likely be north of Cleveland. There’s some possibility of damaging, gusty winds and large hail.

There’s also a possibility of some minor flooding as storms move repeatedly through the same areas.
The cold front will bring 1 to 2 inches of rain in some areas, and possibly as much as 2 to 4 inches in others through Monday.
More showers are expected the rest of the week, meaning that increasingly saturated soils could increase the odds of flash flooding.
It’s not clear yet where the worst of the weather will fall, or how serious the flash flooding threat may be later in the week.
