It appears that Death Stranding won’t be shown off at E3 2017. The project, spearheaded by veteran game designer Hideo Kojima, was shown off at E3 last year, but details on it remain scarce.
After the tumultuous fallout between veteran game designer Hideo Kojima and Konami – a company that he had worked at for nearly three decades – anticipation has been high for the former’s upcoming title, Death Stranding. The game was shown off in a cryptic trailer at E3 2016, when it was in early stages of development.
Now, it appears that the title is still in active development, and won’t be shown off at E3 2017 – which is set to begin in on Sunday.
Hideo Kojima has confirmed that his team is “fully focused on development”, and as such, Death Stranding won’t be making an appearance at E3 this year. While details on the project are still scarce, and we haven’t seen gameplay at all, Kojima has tweeted the following, saying that it is the “only new information” that he can provide:
Not much can be deciphered from the above image and avid gamers are still trying to figure out what a web with “Bridges” written beneath it could possibly mean.
A trailer for the game was shown off towards the end of last year, but it didn’t give away much too. But we did learn that alongside the game’s protagonist played by The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus, actor Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange, The Hunt, Hannibal) and director Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, Pacific Rim) are attached to the project as well.
Although Death Stranding doesn’t have a firm release date as of yet, it is expected before 2019. The title was originally believed to be a PlayStation 4 exclusive, but some information indicates that it may see a launch on PC as well.
