Facebook has taken a “small step” to reaching its goal of bringing the world closer together, hitting two billion users. Everyone will get a personalised video with nifty stats in their feed soon.
Mark Zuckerberg took to Facebook a few hours ago to announce that as of “this morning, the Facebook community is now officially 2 billion people!” It has taken the company just under five years to accrue the second billion people to its website, having passed the one billion mark in October 2012.
In a blog post, the social media giant wrote:
Facebook is giving everyone a video with personalised stats which you’ll be able to find in the News Feed or by visiting the Good Adds Up page. Your video may not be ready yet, but you can find some other cool bits of information about your Facebook activity on the Good Adds Up page.
Facebook said that this two-billion-people milestone is just a small step toward the goal of bringing the world closer together. It said the company is excited to build products which bring people closer together regardless of where they live and what language they speak.
