Top Japanese parcel delivery firm Yamato Transport is scaling back some services to give its overworked drivers a break.
Starting on Monday, customers cannot choose to have their parcels delivered between noon and 2 PM.
A labor shortage and a surge in online shopping have forced the company’s drivers to work long hours.
Instead, the company will expand its night-time delivery window from 8-to-9 PM to 7-to-9 PM to give drivers more time to complete their rounds.
宅配大手のヤマト運輸は19日の発送分から配達の時間指定枠を見直しました。配達員が昼休みを取れるようにするため、「正午から午後2時」は配達枠は廃止し、「午後8時から9時」の時間指定の枠は「午後7時から9時」に変わりました。
