Fire officials said one person died, and two other victims were transported to Children' s Hospital Oakland following a plane crash in Sonoma this afternoon.
One person was killed and three were injured in a plane crash near the Sonoma Skypark Airport in the Sonoma Valley Thursday afternoon, a Sonoma County Fire and Emergency dispatcher said. The crash happened around 12: 45 p.m. in Schell Vista in the area of San Luis Road and Broadway south of Sonoma, the dispatcher said. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane was a single-engine Cirrus SR22 with four people on board that crashed in a field about 1,000 feet west of the airport. Three people went to hospitals, two by helicopter and one by ambulance, the fire dispatcher said. The Schell-Vista Fire Protection District and Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash.
