Many organizations are sharply reducing expenses with the use of data center infrastructure management (DCIM) solutions. Find out what’s driving the savings.
A majority of IT departments are deploying data center infrastructure management (DCIM) solutions and are reaping significant savings, according to a recent survey from Intel Data Center Manager and Schneider Electric. The resulting report, ” DCIM Solution Deployment, ” indicates that many organizations are deploying these solutions to automate time-intensive tasks that are currently conducted manually. They’re also looking to overhaul legacy technology in an era that requires more complex hybrid IT environments. When they acquire these products, CIOs and other IT decision-makers are primarily looking for features that address security, automation and predictive analytics. However, before such acquisitions can happen, they must overcome organizational barriers, such as inadequate budgeting and a lack of buy-in or awareness from the C-suite. “Managers agree that having a DCIM solution in place increases efficiency and reduces manual work in maintaining business operations, ” according to the report. “Those that currently have a solution in place are very pleased with their system. Additionally, increased implementation seems very likely.… Amplifying this transition will come down to increased education of DCIM benefits and prioritization [from] C-suite decision-makers.” More than 200 CIOs and other IT decision-makers from the United States and the United Kingdom took part in the research, which was conducted by Morar Consulting.
