Tropical Depression forms near Tampa; will soak South Florida

Don’t leave home without it: The umbrella that is.
What had been an area of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico near Tampa became a Tropical Depression, the National Hurricane Center said early Monday.
Tropical Depression 6 was located about 75 miles west of Tampa shortly before 5: 30 a.m.
The hurricane center is now issuing advisories on the depression that is expected to bring heavy rain across the region and into South Florida.
According to the National Weather Service, there is an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday. Heavy rainfall is predicted for some parts of the area with local flooding possible.
The temperature will approach 90 and winds will be light from the southwest.
A second system is also being monitored by the hurricane center. It is far away in the Atlantic and has shower activity associated with a tropical wave. It has a low chance of development over the next five days.
South Florida doesn’t really begin drying out until late in the week.
If there is any good news in this forecast, it has to do with temperatures.
