A Jersey Shore amusement park is warning anyone who bought special eclipse viewing glasses there to return them out of safety concerns.
Jenkinson’s Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach said the glasses from EverythingBranded.com may be defective and is issuing a full refund for anyone who purchased them.
The issue is over the brand’s certification, Jenk’s said in a Facebook post .
Everything Branded said on its website that its supply chain assured the glasses “meet their standards” but that it wanted to run its own safety tests “to give our customers extra peace of mind.”
“Unfortunately due to the time-span we are now unable to carry out these tests before the eclipse this coming Monday, ” the brand said.
Monday’s solar eclipse – when the sun, moon and Earth perfectly align in a path visible from coast to coast for the first time in 99 years — will span 14 states across the United States. A partial eclipse will be viewable across all of North America.
Special protective sunglasses must be used in order to safely view the eclipse.
