An American man who was celebrating his one-year wedding anniversary with his wife in Barcelona has gone missing after a van plowed through the crowds at Las Ramblas, killing 13 and injuring more than 100 others.
Heidi Nunes said she was walking downtown with husband Jared Tucker from Lafayette, Calif., when he stopped in a restaurant to use the bathroom, NBC reported.
“Next thing I know there’s screaming, yelling. I got pushed inside the souvenir kiosk and stayed there hiding while everybody kept running by screaming, and then the police eventually made us evacuate, ” Nunes told NBC.
She retraced her steps, visited the US Embassy and the Red Cross and tried to track her husband down at hospitals.
While the US State Department confirms an American sustained minor injuries in the attack, they did not release the person’s name.
