The Lions held practice indoors Monday because of the solar eclipse
TJ Jones was one of seven players who missed practice Monday, but Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell said the wide receiver avoided serious injury in Saturday’s win over the New York Jets.
“He’ll be alright, ” Caldwell said.
Jones, who has played primarily as the slot receiver with the first-team offense through training camp, left in the first half of Saturday’s 16-6 victory with a hamstring injury.

The Lions were down to seven healthy receivers at practice Monday, with Dez Stewart and undrafted rookies Dontez Ford and Noel Thomas also sitting out the workout. Ford and Thomas did not play against the Jets.
Rookie receiver Kenny Golladay could take Jones’ spot with the first-team offense for Friday’s exhibition game against the New England Patriots if Jones can’t play.
Tight end Eric Ebron (hamstring) , cornerback Adairius Barnes (knee) and linebacker Thurston Armbrister also did not practice Monday.
The Lions held practice indoors because of the solar eclipse, and at one point played a remix of Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” while they were on the practice field.
” (The eclipse is happening) during our practice time I guess … so we’ ll be rolling about that time, ” Lions coach Jim Caldwell said. “So we don’ t plan to change anything. We will practice inside rather than outdoors as a result of it. It’s supposed to get dark, we don’ t have any lights out there, so we’ ll come inside and get some practice done, but we may adjust to it if it goes past us and it’s light enough where we can get something done with our last couple periods, we may bump outside.”
