MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – Open murder and armed robbery charges have been filed against a man already accused of mutilating the homicide victim’s body.
Anthony Shawn Blamer Jr., 29, of Fremont robbed and then killed D’Anthony Keenan, 24, of Muskegon, according to a warrant issued by the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office Wednesday afternoon.
Keenan was killed in Muskegon Township near River and Riegler roads during the afternoon of Aug. 4, said Muskegon County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Timothy Maat.
Blamer has been held in the Newaygo County jail on a $100,000 bond on charges that he mutilated Keenan’s body. Police discovered Keenan’s remains around 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 in a wooded area of the Crystal Trails area between 20th and 28th Streets in Sherman Township, according to the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office.

Blamer and Keenan knew each other, and it’s alleged that Blamer tried to steal money and/or a vehicle from Keenan, Maat said.
“We’re alleging this murder is connected to the armed robbery, ” he said.
Investigators arrested Blamer on Tuesday, Aug. 8.
There is no bond on the murder charge, for which Blamer will be arraigned in Muskegon County District Court within the next 48 hours.
It was unclear whether Blamer will be transferred from the Newaygo County Jail to Muskegon for arraignment, or the arraignment will be conducted via video feed, Maat said.
In addition to open murder and armed robbery, Blamer is facing charges of carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearm. He’s being charged as a second-time habitual offender due to a felony conviction for failure to pay child support out of Ottawa County, Maat said.
Keenan was the father of two children, ages 1 and 4 months, according to his sister.
