The Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics struck a blockbuster deal on Tuesday night, which focused on the two teams swapping star point guards. The Cavaliers sent disgruntled star Kyrie Irving to Boston, while the Celtics traded away their own All-Star in Isaiah Thomas.
As ESPN’s Jeff Goodman reported, though, the deal also sent Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and Brooklyn’s 2018 first-round draft pick to the Cavaliers as well .

Overall, the Cavaliers seem to have bolstered their roster a bit heading into the season, while the Celtics just added even more firepower in one of the NBA’s best offensive point guards. Both teams decided to shake things up in their push for the 2017-18 NBA Championship, but the question is, what do the updated odds look like?
Apparently, for both teams, the trade actually helped, according to Bookmaker.
As Scott Cooley of Bookmaker reported, these odds for the Cavaliers and Celtics went up from how they looked on Tuesday morning. He pointed out that the Celtics were +925 heading into the day, while the Cavaliers were +485.
It’s surprising to see both odds actually improve for the two teams, but Vegas apparently believes that each side got better with this deal. To go along with that, it’s worth noting that the Warriors are still the heavy favorites, while teams like the Rockets, Spurs, Thunder and Timberwolves are all getting some love as well.
It’ ll be interesting to see how these odds look once the 2017-18 NBA season begins, as there likely won’ t be much more movement before that time, barring another trade being made.
