After being announced in May, Kickstarter is finally going live in Japan starting on September 13. Those that are interested in starting a campaign can currently email the company their ideas.
Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform that first launched eight years ago in 2009. During that time, the website has been responsible for the success of many projects like the Pebble, the controversial Coolest Cooler, OUYA, and more.
While a majority of projects in the spotlight are often hardware products, the platform is available for so much more and can be used to crowd fund films, games, music and more. Although the service has been available in 21 countries like the United States, Mexico, Canada and parts of Europe, it is now finally going to be available in Japan.
Nearly three months after it was initially announced that Kickstarter would be making its way to Japan, the service will officially go live starting on September 13. While those in Japan could previously back a project, they couldn’t launch a project of their own without it being attached to a partner in the US. Those that are interested in participating can pitch their idea for a campaign by emailing the company, which can be done by clicking on the source link down below.
