The Xbox One X was initially known as Project Scorpio, one of the cooler sounding codenames we have come across in all of our years covering technology. If you were disappointed that the moniker would fade into the footnotes, you will be happy to learn that it might actually live on, at least initially. Leaked photos of the Xbox One X suggest that Microsoft will kick things off with a Project Scorpio Edition, complete with special branding. A German-language website spotted an online retailer listing a purported Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition. The same product SKU could be found at least two overseas retailers, though the listings have since been pulled down, perhaps at the request of Microsoft. This being the Internet and all, leaks live on through saved images and screen captures, both of which are making the rounds. Cached versions of the listings are also available, here and here.. It would not be surprising to see Microsoft offer up special branding for initial shipments of its upcoming console. The Redmond outfit did something similar with the Xbox One—preorders shipped as ” Day One Edition ” consoles, which shipped with a commemorative controller, token code to unlock an exclusive Day One achievement, and special retail packaging. Otherwise, it was the same console as the non-Day One Edition Xbox One systems. Microsoft is planning to announce preorder information for the Xbox One X this Sunday, August 20, at Gamescom 2017. Eager fans can tune into a live stream to see what new things Microsoft announces. The event kicks off at 10: 00 PM Pacific (3: 00 PM Eastern) . In addition to preorder details, Microsoft said it plans to provide news on highly anticipated games coming the Xbox and Windows platforms, along with world premier trailers. There will also be a chance to win prizes. The Xbox One X promises to deliver true 4K game play at 60 frames per second. To achieve that, the Xbox One X will be outfitted with eight custom AMD x86 CPU cores clocked at 2.3GHz with 4MB of L2 cache, 40 custom AMD Radeon GPU compute units operating at 1,172MHz, and 12GB of GDDR5 memory on a 384-bit interface with up to 326GB/sec of memory bandwidth. Launch pricing for the Xbox One X will start at $499. It will be available on November 7,2017.
