Google has finally published the factory images for Android 8.0 Oreo for its Nexus Player device, which is currently the oldest supported device in Google’s lineup of Nexuses and Pixels.
Google released factory system images of Android 8.0 Oreo for its Nexus and Pixel phones and tablets a month ago, but one device was notably missing: the Nexus Player. Now, the company has finally released images for the latest version of the OS, which includes the September, 2017 security update.
Apparently, there was a bug that was discovered that caused tons of data to be uploaded through your network, sometimes crashing it. The issue was found so close to the release that it caused the delay.
The build number is OPR6.170623.021, and as always, Google offers both OTA and factory images. Naturally, there’s no need to flash the update if you’re not over-anxious to get it. It will show up through Settings soon enough.
You might recall that the Nexus 6 and 9 launched alongside the Player; however, those two devices are no longer supported. They never got Android 7.1.2 Nougat, so obviously Android 8.0 Oreo is out of the question.
