Samsung allows users to disable the Bixby button with new update

If you were inconvenienced by the Bixby button that comes standard with every Samsung Galaxy Note8 and S8 device, you will now be able to disable the button completely in a new update.
The Bixby button that comes standard on the Galaxy S8, S8+, and Note8 devices which launched this year, has been quite a controversial subject of late for users of the aforementioned devices; first announced alongside the Galaxy S8 and S8+, the button allows users to quickly bring up the virtual assistant.
However, since users started getting their hands on these devices, some have bemoaned the fact that it became a nuisance in some cases. Third-party applications quickly jumped at the opportunity to give users the ability to remap or disable it completely. Samsung, on the other hand, wasn’t too eager to allow this and have since then worked to block these solutions.
Today, the company have started rolling out a feature update – as SamMobile noted – that allows users of the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, and the recently shipped Samsung Galaxy Note8, the ability to completely disable the button. The update, however, seems to be a staggered roll-out to users and might not show up on every device as of yet. It has to be noted that Bixby Home will not go away completely since you can still access it by swiping left on the home screen.
Samsung launched the Bixby assistant to counter those from Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Apple; the company rolled it out to 200 markets worldwide last month and also announced that Spotify integration will also be added to its arsenal of capabilities later this year.
