Concert will benefit relief efforts

Admission is a donation at the door to help Samaritan’s Purse.
A benefit concert to help hurricane and earthquake victims will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2501 Stone St., Port Huron.
Phil Larson, who is hosting the concert with his wife, Marsha, said admission is a donation at the door to help Samaritan’s Purse .
“They are all over in the Caribbean, Mexico, Puerto Rice, Texas, Florida,” he said. “They are pretty strained. We just hope we can help a little bit.”
Samaritan’s Purse on its website describes itself as “a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.”
The concert will feature the Pine River Legacy Band and Ourselves, Larson said.
“The Pine River Legacy Band, that’s a traditional string band,” Larson said. They play Celtic and Irish music and Americana music
“The second group is Ourselves. Ourselves has been performing in the area for a long time They do Irish and Americana folk music.”
Larson said he expects people will give to the cause.
“We’ve actually found that when we’ve done a few of these in the past people are very generous,” he said.
