Actor and filmmaker is set to be feted at a ceremony in June televised on TNT.
George Clooney has more to celebrate than just twins and a new movie this fall.
The actor and filmmaker has been tapped to receive the 46th American Film Institute Life Achievement Award at a gala tribute June 7,2018. TNT will televise the ceremony taking place in Los Angeles.
“George Clooney is America’s leading man,” said Sir Howard Stringer, chairman of the AFI Board of Trustees. “Director, producer, writer and actor — a modern-day screen icon who combines the glamour of a time gone by with a ferocious passion for ensuring art’s impact echoes beyond the screen.”
Clooney, whose newest directorial effort Suburbicon is in theaters Oct. 27, joins an impressive slate of honorees who’ve been given the AFI honor since 1973. The list includes Orson Welles , Bette Davis , Alfred Hitchcock , Elizabeth Taylor, Jack Nicholson , Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks , Meryl Streep and last year’s recipient Diane Keaton.
