The front man provided vocals on the band’s first two albums.
Chuck Mosley, the former lead singer of Faith No More died Thursday. He was 57.
The frontman’s family attributed his death to the “disease of addiction.”
“We’re sharing the manner in which he passed, in the hopes that it might serve as a warning or wake-up call or beacon to anyone else struggling to fight for sobriety,” his family said in a statement Friday, noting Mosley maintained a “long period of sobriety” before he died.
Mosley joined Faith No More — a rock band that covered multiple genres including alternative and funk metal — in 1983 after performing for several other groups.

He provided vocals for their first album, “We Care A Lot,” in 1985, before singing on their second, “Introduce Yourself,” two years later.
Mosley was fired from the group in 1988 before they released their third album.
Toward the end of his time with the band, he reportedly clashed with Faith No More bassist Billy Gould.
“There was a certain point when I went to rehearsal, and Chuck wanted to do all acoustic guitar songs. It was just so far off the mark — I think I actually attacked him again,” Gould told Team Rock in 2014.

Mosley’s lead singer spot was filled by Mike Patton, who performed with the band for years, including after they reunited in 2009.
After leaving Faith No More, Mosley joined the group Bad Brains for several years, and eventually created several solo albums as well.
He performed alongside the current Faith No More lineup several times in 2016 as part of the group’s reunion.
Mosley is survived by his partner, Pip Logan, his daughters Sophie and Erica, and his grandson Wolfgang Logan Mosley.
