Baker said his client has been Paul’s neighbor in Bowling Green for 17 years and they even worked together when they were practicing doctors.
“It was a very regrettable dispute between two neighbors over a matter that most people would regard as trivial,” Baker wrote, without elaborating.
But NBC News reported the two had been feuding for several years over the political bent of Paul and his father, former Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who are both libertarians.
Paul and Boucher also had a previous dispute over a property line that ran behind the senator’s home, the report said.
“We sincerely hope that Senator Paul is doing well and that these two gentlemen can get back to being neighbors as quickly as possible,” the post said.
Paul’s senior adviser Doug Stafford said on Sunday that the senator was recovering from five broken ribs and three displaced fractures after the “blindside” assault last Friday.

Boucher, 59, was arrested on Saturday and charged with misdemeanor fourth-degree assault.
He was released from jail on Saturday.
Paul practiced ophthalmology before being elected senator in 2010.
Boucher is an anesthesiologist.
