ROCKFORD, MI – If you were watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade today, you might have spotted the Rockford High School Marching Band.
The more than 300 West Michigan students were among just 10 high school bands from across the country invited to march in the iconic parade in New York City.
Their performance was watched by more than 3.5 million people along the parade route and more than 50 million viewers on television.
The Rockford marching band is only the third high school band in Michigan and the very first from West Michigan to be chosen in the 91-year history of the parade.
The band performed “I Want You Back,” by the Jackson 5, the patriotic “Armed Forces on Parade, and the holiday classic, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”
A 90-second snippet of their performance was shown just before noon for those watching the parade on TV or online.
