The Samsung Galaxy S6 is likely to receive the Android Oreo update soon if recent screenshots posted by a Reddit user are anything to go by.
Reddit user CyberConCoder recently posted a couple of screenshots online that gives confirmation from four different Samsung representatives about the Android Oreo update coming to the Samsung Galaxy S6 devices. Incidentally, each of the Samsung representatives confirmed the same piece of information that the Samsung Galaxy S6 would be getting the Android Oreo update soon. One of the customer support executive even said in the chat window that this news has been confirmed by his supervisor.
While, at this point in time, it is difficult to ascertain whether this piece of information is credible or not, the fact that four customer centres have reiterated the same fact does suggest that this piece of information might after all, be true. However, do keep in mind, that the estimated time when the Android Oreo update should arrive on these phones is still unknown at the moment.
Samsung has already started rolling out the update to the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus devices. The Android Oreo beta version, which is a part of Samsung Experience 9.0, has also been confirmed to be rolled out to the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, Samsung Galaxy S7 Active, Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017), Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017), Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017)/Pro, Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017)/Pro, Samsung Galaxy J7 Max, Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro, Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 devices. However, the timeline as to when exactly that will happen isn’t known at the moment.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 edge devices come with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a pixel resolution of 1440 x 2560. Under the hood, these smartphones are powered by a 64-bit 2.1GHz octa-core Exynos 7 processor with 4GB of RAM. The device sport 16-megapixel camera at the rear and a 5-megapixel camera at the front.
At the time of their launch in India in 2015, the Galaxy S6 and the S6 edge were priced at Rs.49,900 (32GB), Rs.55,900 (64GB) and Rs.60,900 (128GB), and Rs.58,900 (32GB), Rs.64,900 (64GB) and Rs.70,900 (128 GB) respectively.
