Star Wars Battlefront 2 was one of the most anticipated titles of the year but EA had to ruin it for everyone by adding loot boxes and microtransactions to the mix. But this time, the fans had enough. People went to social media and complained about the microtransactions arguing that they should not have to grind after spending $60 on the game.
The pay to win model of the game caused a lot of commotion and has resulted in Star Wars Battlefront 2 sales falling short as compared to the first game. The first game was very successful but as compared to that Star Wars Battlefront 2 sales are 60% lower in the UK. It is important to note that these do not include digital sales so these numbers are only for physical copies.
At might be too early to see whether the game is doing well or not but it is noticeable that it comes at the second place while CoD WW2 is at first place. CoD WW2 has been out for a while now and the sales of the game have come to a decline as well with the passage of time and that is another indication of Star Wars Battlefront 2 sales not being as good as the first game.
Microtransactions have been removed from the game for now and the developers have said that changes will be made to the progression system but it might be too late. According to DICE:
