Texas Trooper Was Just Killed in Line of Duty — Gov. Greg Abbott Makes Promise to Texans

Tragedy has struck Texas.
A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was shot and killed in the line of duty on Thursday, sparking an aggressive manhunt across the state.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued a statement Thursday night expressing his condolences to the officer’s family and also making a stern promise to Texans about the suspect.
“The killer will face justice,” Abbot vowed, “and the state of Texas will continue to offer our unwavering support for the men and women in law enforcement to keep our communities safe.”

The Navarro County Office of Emergency Management identified the suspect as Dabrett Montreal Black and provided a description of the alleged killer:
Suspect info on officer shooting: Darbrett Black, black male, 5’ 11”, 175 lbs. Left scene driving a Gray Chevy Malibu LP# JDN4273. Incident occurred in Freestone county at approx 4:00 PM south of Fairfield on I45. Contact law enforcement if spotted and do not approach. #dfwnews

The suspect was caught late Thursday and will soon face the justice that Abbott promised.
