Oh dear. I made the mistake of watching some hands-on videos for HP’s newly announced ARM tablet, the HP Envy x2, and now I want one.
The Surface Pro clone is of course powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor, is lighter than an iPad Pro and only 6.9mm thick and weighs just 1.54 pounds with a 12 inch Full HD screen with Gorilla Glass 4,8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage.
Those are the specs, but unfortunately, I have fallen in lust with the styling of the device, which appears pretty premium, best displayed in HP’s own sizzle video above.
Engadget’s hands-on video below also does nothing to turn me off.
They note good build quality, a great screen, a good backlit keyboard with 1.3 mm travel, good performance with the included apps and a good implementation of the great-looking keyboard case, which comes included with the stylus.
Lilliputing has also posted a hands-on, which demonstrates the various kickstand angles well, reveals Bang and Olufsen speakers, a USB-C port, SIM card slot and memory card slot, 13-megapixel rear camera and headphone jack.
They are also generally positive, but warn the device will not be priced as an entry-level device.
HotHardware put the device through its paces, switching between a number of different apps and loading what appears to be their rather heavy website, and the hybrid PC appeared to perform perfectly adequately.
HP has not revealed pricing yet, but if it clocks in less than $800 Microsoft may have at least one customer for their new Windows on ARM adventure.
