Konami announces multiplayer beta for January
Much of the focus on Metal Gear Survive, Konami’s survival-based spin-off of Metal Gear Solid 5, so far has been on the game’s four-player cooperative mode. Today, Konami and game producer Yuji Korekado offer a more comprehensive look at what Metal Gear Survive ’s single-player component will look like.
Like the Metal Gear Solid 5 games, Survive will be mission-based. Players will take on the role of a survivor of the attack on Mother Base from Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes. After being transported via wormhole to a strange reality populated by zombie-like Wanderers, players will fight to survive by gathering resources, building up their base and rescuing fellow survivors.
Korekado shows off how players will have to hunt for food and scavenge for supplies in order to stay alive and build up their home base. Players will craft defensive structures from the materials they gather, grow food at their subsistence farm and assign tasks to rescued survivors. They’ll also face waves of Wanderers who attack their base.
Metal Gear enthusiasts (and curiosity seekers) will have a chance to try out Metal Gear Survive in January as part of a beta test. The beta will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from Jan. 18-21,2018, during which players will be able to test out co-op mode. Beta participants will get in-games items for the final release, including a Fox Hound name plate, an accessory Metal Gear Rex Head and accessory bandana.
Metal Gear Survive is coming to PS4, Windows PC and Xbox One on Feb. 20,2018.
