Man arrested on murder charge after missing woman found dead

Nunica area woman Sheila Bonge was found dead near her home, police said.
CROCKERY TOWNSHIP, MI — A 63-year-old Crockery Township man has been arrested and lodged on a charge of open murder related to a death investigation near Nunica, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Nunica area woman Sheila Bonge was found dead in the early evening hours near her home in the 14000 block of 104th Avenue, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said late on Thursday, Dec. 28.
The case was originally a suspicious death investigation and has turned into a homicide investigation, according to an Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The man was lodged on Dec. 29, Cpt. John Wolffis siad.
The investigation is ongoing and police withheld the man’s name until an arraignment, expected to happen on Dec. 30, the news release said.
Police earlier Thursday issued a news release, seeking the public’s help to find Bonge. She was last seen by relatives on Christmas Eve at her home. Then on Christmas Day, about 2 p.m., she was contacted by phone, police said.
The location of Bonge’s home is between the Grand River and Leonard Street, and east of M-231.
