Hip hop mogul Russell Simmons has come under NYPD investigation amid shocking allegations that he raped or sexually abused seven women in New York City several decades ago, officials said.
Cops recently started looking into the disturbing accusations against Simmons and are reaching out to his alleged victims, according to Deputy Chief Timothy Trainor.
“Our detectives are in the process of reviewing that information,” Trainor said in a statement.
One of Simmons’ accusers, Sherri Hines, told the Daily News that officers tried to reach her Thursday morning.

“They just let me know that they needed to talk to me about the Simmons allegations,” Hines said.

Simmons, 60, who cofounded the legendary Def Jam Records, stepped down from all his companies last month after two women accused him of forcing them into having sex with him.
Simmons has vehemently denied all the allegations and vowed to fight back against the claims on Thursday.

“If someone’s been hurt, the truth needs to come out,” she told The News. “Nobody has the right to violate anyone. It’s wrong, it’s just plain wrong.
