In the entertainment industry, female filmmakers and showrunners are glaringly underrepresented, which is even more of a travesty when you consider the contributions they have made to the big and small screens. Consider: you wouldn’t have the safe, soapy haven of TGIT, you wouldn’t be quoting Liz Lemon every day, and you’d have no Gilmores (either one) to look up to. Not only are some of your current and former favorite TV shows from the blood, sweat, and tears of female showrunners, but you might not even know that women were behind them.
