The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive year comes to a close with three great series.
The stage is set for the final day of the ECS Season 4 Finals and it should be the perfect way to close out the 2017 season of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
After a few surprising results, including Mousesports advancing to the tournament’s semifinals, it’s time for the four remaining teams to test their resolve and consistency. The winner must prevail in two best-of-three series today to take home the trophy.
The conclusion of the ECS Season 4 Finals will be broadcast live from the Hard Rock Hotel in Cancun, Mexico and can be seen on FaceIt’s YouTube channel starting at 9:15 a.m. ET.
The ECS Season 4 Finals has already had more than its fair share of excitement. Now, with unpredictable performances from most of the teams each day, the last two rounds should deliver an exciting affair.
The first match, between Astralis and Mouseports, may seem a mismatch on paper, but the real story behind it is a lot more complicated. Over the last several months Astralis have proven themselves as one of the game’s top teams, but with exceptional performances at a few tournaments, not consistent greatness. With a somewhat spotty track record, and a Mousesports team that seems far more competent than anyone could have expected, this series has all the makings of a classic upset.
The day’s second series is a little more straight forward, with a clear favorite and a capable challenger. It’s no secret that FaZe Clan was the overall tournament favorite. With two second place finishes and a first place win over the last month, FaZe is undeniably strong, but the team does struggle to close out tournaments. Meanwhile, Fnatic’s roster have proven themselves, over the last several tournaments, as worthy challenger to a team like FaZe. Whether Fnatic’s drive can outweigh FaZe Clan’s raw talent across a full three-game series remains to be seen.
