The House of Representatives has approved a proposed law that eliminates the costly judicial process for marriage annulment.
Under the bill, marriage annulments approved by the Catholic Church or any other religious group will have the same effect as a civil annulment, making the legal process unnecessary.
“Hindi na kailangan mag-file ulit in any court for judicial recognition of that annulment. You just file it with the proper civil registry,” Deputy House Speaker Gwendolyn Garcia, co-author of House Bill 6779, told DZMM.

House bill 6779, entitled “An Act Recognizing the Civil Effects of Church Annulment Decrees” was co-authored by Leyte Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez.
