Final Fantasy 7 Remake fans finally get an small update about the game’s development thanks to a group interview featuring one of the title’s producers.
News about the Final Fantasy 7 remake has been incredibly rare for the last few months. There was a bit of news here and there in early 2017, but since then development updates have gone silent, as Square Enix suggested they would. Now that the new year has arrived, one of the producers finally cracked and offered a tiny update on the game’s progress.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase was recently featured in a group interview published by Japanese magazine Weekly Famitsu and offered fans of the game a bit of assurance by mentioning that development on the game is going well. It’s not much to go on, but it’s just a relief to hear someone from the team finally acknowledging the game in public once again after so many months in the dark.
The producer went on to talk about his plans for 2018 with the game and he said he would be focusing on ‘comfort.’ Without the full translation and context of the discussion, it’s a little hard to tell what he is getting at with that word. Comfort for the user? Comfort for the game’s launch (hopefully)? It sounds like he may have been intentionally vague with the response to avoid talking about details.
As the year progresses, fans will likely learn a lot more about the game. Hopefully Final Fantasy 7 has a major presence at E3 this summer and we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for a late 2018 release. That’s not too hopeful, is it?
Currently, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is in development for the PS4.
