Today, Xioami announced a list of 40 Mi devices that will be getting updated to the Nougat-based MIUI 9.
One of the fundamental requirements for a smartphone is to receive timely updates. These updates tweak the software version and also include latest security patches to protect the device from malware. Keeping up with the update schedule is the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi. Although the company is not rolling out Oreo-based updates to many of its devices, it is, however, ensuring to get the majority of them on Nougat-based MIUI 9.
Today, Xioami announced a list of 40 Mi devices that will be getting updated to the Nougat-based MIUI 9. A majority of these devices were launched in 2017, but there are also some that were launched as earlier as 2012.

For those wondering why Xiaomi has been considerably late in pushing out the Nougat-based MIUI 9, well, the reason behind the delay lies in the heavy customisation that Xiaomi puts in its proprietary UI. All these tweaks take the company longer to push the final updates to its ever-growing list of devices. No matter how stock Android fans diss the customisations, but Xiaomi has earned a royal fan base for MIUI.
For now, we do not know the exact timeline for MIUI 9 to hit the devices mentioned in the list, but one can expect the process to begin soon. Regarding the new features that will debut with the MIUI 9, some of the major features are image search, smart assistant, and the smart app launcher. The package also includes three different notification styles – Quick Replies, Multiple Styles, and Bundling Notifications.
