The Huawei Honor 8 Pro was announced back in April 2017, and it went on sale immediately. The company announced that the device would get the Android 8.0 Oreo update by the end of 2017. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. However, the Honor 8 Pro is now receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo beta update.
The beta update is rolling out to the users who registered for the Android 8.0 Oreo beta update programme. The new update is based on the company’s new EMUI 8.0 customisation. The EMUI 8.0 brings with it a host of new features like PC Mode, AI Intelligent Engine, Dynamic Wallpaper, Smart Screen, Smart Tips, Real-Time Scene and Object Recognition, and AI-accelerated language translation. The EMUI 8.0 also has a redesigned UI with newer icons, newer themes, and refreshed notification bar.
“The upgraded EMUI 8.0 is avant-garde technological software which is efficient, secure and above all, user friendly. Eradicating lag, they can witness a faster and smarter phone experience, powered by advanced AI technological features. The update significantly cuts down on the number of steps needed to achieve the desired function through its smart applications like navigation dock and smart screen, and enables the user to reach 90% of the core functions in just a single-click. We have developed the EMUI 8.0 for those who live and work on-the-go,” said a Huawei R&D spokesperson to the Android Authority.
The Huawei Honor 8 Pro is currently retailing in India for Rs. 29,999. The Honor 8 Pro competes directly with the Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018), Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, and the OnePlus 5T.
