A Florida man barely got away after he was viciously mauled by a bear.
Andrew Meunier let his dog out around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night when the animal quickly ran back inside his house, NBC 2 reports.
The 41-year-old told police he was attacked by a bear when it swiped at him right after the dog ran back inside. Meunier told police he saw three bears total that stood over five feet tall.
Meunier had to be taken to the hospital for treatment after he suffered several cuts across his head and stomach. NBC 2 reports he was in surgery for four hours and had to get 41 stitches.

“Truthfully I’m just happy I got out alive,” Meunier said. “Everything went in slow motion and it’s as scary as you can imagine.”
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission setup traps in the surrounding area by Meunier’s home in Naples in hopes of catching the bears before they hurt anyone else. Donuts have been placed in the traps because it’s sweets that attract the bears.
Meunier is the first person to ever be injured by a bear in south Florida. The man said it was like he was literally in a boxing match with a bear.
“Who else can say? That’s what they were telling me last night in the ER,” Meunier said. “I look like I got in a fight with Wolverine. I don’t care if there are scars, I walked away with my life and it could’ve gone a whole lot worse.”
