A woman suffered severe burns on her arms and torso after a man sprayed her with aerosol brake fluid and lit her on fire, police said.
The Milford Volunteer Fire and Rescue was called just before 6 p.m. Wednesday to a home after the woman was reportedly burned.
Prior to the crew’s arrival, a second 911 call had been made, saying that the burns were caused by a man in the home who was believed to have intentionally caused the injury.
Deputies with the Seward County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene, where the victim and suspect, Jeremy Koch, 37, had gotten into an argument that turned violent.
Police said Koch sprayed the woman with the fluid and lit her clothing on fire. The victim was able to remove some clothing, but she still suffered severe burns.
The victim was identified as a 42-year-old woman from the Milford area. She was transported to an area medical facility, where she was treated for her injuries.
Deputies placed Koch under arrest on suspicion of first-degree domestic assault, third-degree arson and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
Koch was taken to the Seward County Detention Center, where he is being held on $500,000 cash-only bail.
The investigation remains ongoing. Additional charges may be filed as the case develops.
