Finally some info.
On Oct. 1,2017, Stephen Paddock opened fire on a country music festival from a hotel room in Las Vegas, killing 58 and injuring hundreds. Since the shooting, little to no information has been released to reveal a motive for the tragedy.
But on Friday, Sheriff Joseph Lombardo held his first press conference since Oct. 13,2017, and he shared an 81-page preliminary investigative report. He stated, “I realize it’s been three months since you have received an update on the 1 October shooting. We have done a lot of work trying to piece together what happened.”
The sheriff explained they had gone through over 2,000 leads and sifted through 21,560 hours of video. According to Lombardo, an unnamed person of interest is being looked into by the FBI, and it is not Paddock’s girlfriend, Marilou Danley. He also stated that they still believe Paddock was the lone shooter.
Perhaps the most disturbing detail the sheriff released was that investigators found “numerous” accounts of child pornography on the shooter’s computer as well as recent online searches for SWAT tactics and other potential targets he was looking into.
According to recently released court documents, Paddock’s girlfriend told authorities they might find her fingerprints on the bullets because she occasionally assisted him in loading magazines. Danley was also discovered to have deleted her Facebook account an hour before Paddock’s name was released publicly.
Despite months of investigation, it is still unclear what Paddock’s motive was.
