Samsung is set to launch its Galaxy S flagship within the next month or so, and more leaks of upcoming features of the phones are now appearing online. A new report claims that the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will have two different configurations for the cameras: one will be a single lens while the other is a twin lens module.
What makes the report from Korean outlet ETnews different is in the specific details provided in the camera modules. The lens for the Samsung Galaxy S9, for instance, will have the largest aperture on smartphone cameras to date at f/1.5. Plus, the Galaxy S9 will borrow tech from the Samsung W2018 where the aperture of the camera is controlled mechanically, with a variable aperture of between f/1.5 and f/2.4 available for the users.
Meanwhile, the larger Galaxy S9+’s dual camera sensors will have two aperture values – f/1.5 and f/2.4 respectively. The camera app then uses both sensors to capture an image, using data collected from both sensors to capture enough depth information for Live Focus features, just like the Galaxy Note 8.
The ETnews report also includes more details about the Galaxy S9 and S9+’s hardware. The Samsung Galaxy S9 will have a 5.77-inch display with 4GB of RAM built-in, while the Samsung Galaxy S9+ will have a larger 6.22-inch display and 6GB of RAM onboard. Lastly, the smaller model will have a 3,000mAh battery while the larger will sport a 3,500mAh battery.
With less than a month to go before the official launch of the new Galaxy S9 and S9+ at MWC 2018, we can be sure that there would be a few more interesting leaks to come in the coming weeks.
