Sony has announced its press event for MWC 2018, which is set to happen next month. The Japanese brand has set it on February 26,2018, and we can expect the company to unveil its newer high-end smartphones. However, we would like to advise you that the current invitations doesn’t mention anything surprising, but we are quite sure that a new flagship is on its way. Apart from that, a few rumours are already doing rounds of the internet claiming that Sony will likely unveil the Xperia XZ Pro next month. The specifications of this handset were already revealed a few days ago, hinting that the smartphone could be the most powerful device among all the ones which are launching this year.
Going by the leaked specifications of the upcoming smartphone, the Xperia XZ Pro is believed to sport a 5.7-inch 4K OLED display with HDR compatibility. The handset would use the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on its front as well as its rear. Under the hood, it is expected to come with Qualcomm’s highest-end chipset, the Snapdragon 845, along with 6GB of RAM. The phone could come packed with a whopping 128GB of internal storage along with an option to expand it using the microSD card slot. On the software front, the smartphone could come pre-installed with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and a few Sony customisation on top of Android.
Furthermore, the device might also feature an iris scanner and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and the Galaxy Note 8. In addition to these, the Xperia XZ Pro could also be IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. Sony’s older phones were IP68 certified as well, so we don’t see a reason why the company would remove this feature from its flagship smartphone this year. As far as the imaging aspect of the Xperia XZ Pro goes, it might sport a dual-camera setup at the rear, consisting of an 18-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel secondary sensor. It is also said to be capable enough to record 4K videos at 60fps. The phone could come packed with a 3420mAh, non-removable battery with support for Quick Charge 4.0.
