A jury was deadlocked during a trial in November.
The U. S. Justice Department said on Friday it plans to retry Democratic Senator Robert Menendez on bribery and corruption charges after a jury was deadlocked during a trial in November.
The government said in a court filing it wants a federal judge in New Jersey to set the “earliest possible date” for a retrial. The government also plans to retry Salomon Melgen, a Florida ophthalmologist who made campaign donations to Menendez. Menendez is up for re-election in November.
