The wife of an Alameda County Sheriff’s Deputy involved in a fatal DUI crash that killed a 3-year-old boy will spend 7 years in state prison. Yaranit Malihan faced manslaughter charges but reached a plea deal with prosecutors on Friday. She originally plead not guilty. Malihan is accused of rear-ending a car that had run out of gas on interstate 680 last September, killing 3-year old Elijah Dunn who was a passenger. Malihan had been arrested for DUI once before the fatal accident.
