Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi will be attending the upcoming MWC 2018 exhibition next month. The official MWC website has listed Xiaomi as one of the exhibitors at the expo, and the company’s booth will be positioned at stand 6B30 in Hall 6. However, it is not known if Xiaomi will have a press conference or a launch event at MWC. There are chances, though, that the brand could unveil its next flagship smartphone, the Mi 7, at the MWC 2018 expo.
For those who are unaware, Xiaomi started attending MWC event two year ago, where it had announced the Mi 5. However, the company skipped the expo last year, a time when Hugo Barra left the company to join Facebook’s VR team. We are quite sure that the brand is prepping for the launch of the Mi 7 and we expect it to be launched next month at MWC 2018. The smartphone will come packed with the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, which was also confirmed by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun a few weeks ago. The Mi 7 is also rumoured to is said to have ditched the on-screen fingerprint reader in favour of an iPhone X-like 3D facial recognition technology.
Furthermore, the Mi 7 is expected to be launched in two variants. The base variant of the phone is expected to have a 5.65-inch display, whereas the Plus variant could offer a 6.01-inch screen. There’s no doubt that both these variants will have screens with 18:9 aspect ratio, which has been a trend among most smartphones from Xiaomi as well as other brands. Some rumours also claim that the higher-end variant of the Mi 7 will ship with 6GB of RAM and will have a 12-megapixel (Sony IMX380) sensor and a 20-megapixel (Sony IMX350) sensor, similar to what we saw last year with the Mi 6.
With just one month remaining ahead of MWC 2018, we can expect Xiaomi to tease more details about the phone in the next few weeks.
