Feb. 13 (UPI) — Two brothers celebrating a birthday were among the three British tourists killed last weekend in a helicopter crash in the Grand Canyon, officials said.
The victims — Jason Hill, 32; his brother Stuart, 30; and Stuart’s girlfriend Becky Dobson, 27 — all died when the chopper crashed near Quartermaster Canyon on the Hualapai Nation, about 60 miles west of Peach Springs, Ariz., Saturday.
Jason Hill’s girlfriend and two other friends survived the crash and were hospitalized with severe burns. The pilot also survived but his condition wasn’t known.
The six friends booked the chopper for a sightseeing tour over the Grand Canyon, as part of a trip celebrating Stuart Hill’s 30th birthday.
The brothers had saved for a year for the “trip pf a lifetime,” Hill’s family said.
Rev. David Hill, the father of the brothers, said the family’s only comfort is that the “incredibly close” brothers died together.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
