A man had to be revived by authorities after he collapsed and suffered a cardiac episode in Times Square on Sunday afternoon, dramatic photographs show.
The victim was trying to buy a cigarette lighter from a newsstand near West 43rd Street and Broadway around 1:30 p.m., when he suddenly collapsed from an apparent cardiac episode, an FDNY spokesman said.
“He wanted to buy a lighter,” said the newsstand attendant, who would only identify himself as Park. “He put hands [in his pockets and] tried to take out money, then he just fell,” he said, motioning as if the customer fell backwards.

The victim was taken to NYU Langone Medical Center in serious condition.
