Epic Games details a major Valentine’s Day update for Fortnite Battle Royale and Save The World including brand new skins and a romantic, love story questline.
Fortnite players have had plenty of new gameplay content to enjoy over the last few days. Not only has Epic Games introduced the minigun weapon, but the developer has also added a limited time only shooting test event as it prepares additional changes to the game. But it seems that that’s not all that Epic has up its sleeves.
Epic Games has now confirmed that Fortnite will be getting a Valentine’s Day event too. To celebrate the most romantic day of the year, the Fortnite team is releasing several Valentine’s Day skins for Fortnite Battle Royale. This includes a skin that turns players into a stone statue of Cupid, the winged god of desire, love, and attraction, complete with stone wings, a white sash, and pink trousers that only a god could wear well. Another skin will turn Fortnite Battle Royale characters into a giant, hot pink teddy bear with a broken-hearted symbol on its belly. The teddy bear is probably best-worn by Valentine’s Day skeptics who can’t stand the loved-up holiday.
Running with the Cupid theme, Fortnite Battle Royale will also be adding a crossbow. As explained by Epic games, the gold, white, and pink weapon will allow players to “Eliminate your targets with stealth and finesse.” It sounds like the weapon is more than a novelty, and is actually a pretty smart way of racking up more kills.
Epic Games has also outlined a couple of major updates for Save The World (Fortnite‘s co-operative story mode). The mode will also receive some Valentine’s Day themed skins along with the aforementioned crossbow, and players can also expect some Valentine’s questlines, including a “love story, told the Fortnite way.” Intriguingly, Epic also teases an event called Spring It On which will apparently take place over a series of weeks and will also introduce new quests for Save The World players to enjoy.
Although Fortnite has received many new updates over the last few days and weeks, the game has also experienced some serious technical issues. This new content is relatively exciting, and players will be glad to have something new to work toward. However, fans won’t be pleased if the release of this content is also met with additional instability. Epic Games is likely aware of these fears, though, and the developer will no doubt be doing its best to make sure that things go smoothly.
Fortnite is available now in early access on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
