The most expensive iPhone will be less expensive
T-Mobile customers in the United States, however, can get the iPhone X with a $200 discount starting February 23, as part of a new deal that comes with several restrictions.
First and foremost, to get the discount you need to trade-in an eligible phone. Then, you need to pay $279.99 down and agree with a $30 monthly payment for 24 months. If you do quality for the campaign, you receive the rebate on a prepaid MasterCard card issued by Sunrise Banks.
Apple’s iPhone X is available in the United States from $999 for the base model with 64GB storage, while the upgraded version with 256GB costs $1,149. This makes it the most expensive iPhone released by Apple.
A cost breakdown published in late December revealed that the display on the iPhone X is the priciest component with an estimate of $110 per unit. The body of the phone costs nearly half than that – $61, while the cameras themselves are said to have a cost of $35.
Apple is well aware that the iPhone X is a very expensive gadget and the price is one of the reasons many potential buyers are delaying the purchase, so this year’s iPhone generation is expected to include a more affordable version.
A 6.1-inch iPhone is believed to be in the works for a fall 2018 release, but in order to cut the costs of the device, Apple could give up on 3D Touch and dual cameras, while also replacing the OLED display with an LCD panel. The launch could take place in the fall alongside two other iPhone models with OLED tech, including a Plus-sized version of the iPhone X.
