NBA trade deadline day took a little bit to get going, but once the Cavs woke up and started dealing, things got crazy. The first blockbuster trade the Cavs made was shipping Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye and their protected 2018 first round pick to the Lakers for Larry Nance Jr. and Jordan Clarkson.
Thomas getting moved wasn’t entirely shocking considering the clear divide between he, the rest of the locker room and the coaching staff that had emerged since his return to the lineup in early January. Him being dealt to the Lakers, however, was a shocker — as was the Cavs tacking on the first round pick just to get Thomas out of the locker room.
With Lonzo Ball already there and L.A. clearly more worried about their youth movement and clearing cap space (both Frye and Thomas are expiring) than winning now, which means there’s a chance they’ll want Thomas to come off of the bench. There’s one major problem with that. Thomas won’t accept coming off of the bench, and if you thought he was disgruntled in Cleveland it could be worse in L.A. if he’s relegated to backup duty behind Ball and other young players.

Man, the NBA is so full of ego it’s ridiculous.
“Won’t accept coming off the bench”
FFS, though. Take your money and come off the fucking bench like a professional. This isn’t the fucking schoolyard anymore.
I hope this isn’t true, I’ve been a big fan of IT and wrote off what he was saying in CLE as a reaction to a horrible locker room and coaching staff.
It it isn’t gossip though, IT needs to prepare for some disappointment. Luke Walton didn’t give in to pressure from Lonzo’s dad, I don’t think he has any f’s to give about what IT’s agent says.
I kind of doubt he’ll cause any trouble after the Lakers lay down the law, he needs to go into the offseason with a good reputation if he wants a team to give him a big payday.
Already making demands…he will be bought out and used by a team then get much less than max this summer as his value is way down…
He also sent a follow up text STILL WONT PLAY DEFENSE EITHER just to let everyone know where he’s at.
eh….he wont have to worry about coming off the bench, he’s already better than Lonzo
Sit down. Be humble. Just play, man. I know it’s been a rough 12 months, but damn. If he wants any chance of getting paid by anyone, he needs to keep his mouth shut and play with the heart and chip on his shoulder that he’s known for. Running his mouth and drawing the line in the sand won’t help him. Didn’t help him with Cleveland, who shipped him after 15 games.
He needs to shut the fuck up because he is closer to being out of the league than being an all star.
