A woman driving a vehicle that struck a security barrier near the White House was apprehended Friday afternoon, the U. S. Secret Service says.
The vehicle did not breach the White House complex in the incident at 17th & E Street, no shots fired and no law enforcement personnel was injured, the Secret Service says .
The driver of the passenger vehicle was immediately taken into custody by Secret Service Uniformed Division Officers. A source tells CNN she is known to law enforcement and has mental health issues.
Members of the White House press pool said the building was placed into a lockdown.
